The Stewards Market is a Christ-driven, non-profit organization working to build successful communities with improved socioeconomics by creating entrepreneurial and educational opportunities. Under the basic principle that we are all stewards of the community in today's society, The Stewards Market partners with Chicago-area educational facilities to offer pipeline programs to youth and young adults. The Stewards Market was officially created in 2006, to encourage an entrepreneurial spirit in Chicago’s Cabrini Green neighborhood. However, the group's origin can be traced back as early as 2001. Working alongside Living Faith Community Church, The Stewards Market began teaching money management classes to adults. Witnessing the severe financial problems many students dealt with every day, it became apparent that similar classes should be offered to children and teens before they developed poor spending habits. Recognizing community needs beyond financial literacy, The Stewards Market continues to develop new focus areas that make the greatest impact. Towards the end of 2009, The Stewards Market became an official 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The organization also expanded and built a team of talented and dedicated directors to take the organization to the next level. Today, The Stewards Market is growing a strong team of talented volunteers and members interested in sharing a wide range of God-given gifts to uplift and empower others. Although The Stewards Market mainly focuses on Chicago communities, we work closely with individuals and organizations throughout the U.S. and internationally.
